Secrets: How To Use SWEET POTATO RECIPES To Create A Successful

When most people think of sweet potatoes, they think of Thanksgiving and sweet potato stew. At present, the humble sweet potato is very versatile and can be used in a wide variety of recipes, from breakfast to dinner.  Sweet potatoes are a nutritional powerhouse - full of fiber, vitamin A and C.  These vitamins are important for the health of the eyes, and the bones. They may even help boost immunity so that your child does not get sick as often. Even delicate carnivores tend to enjoy the sweet taste of sweet potatoes.  For a quick snack after school, Peel sweet potatoes and cut into raw ¼-inch sticks. Serve with peanut butter.

Sweet potato chips

A nutritious and tasty alternative to french fries
· 2 sweet potatoes, peeled and cut in slices
· Garlic Powder or condiment of your choice

Sprinkle the chips with condiments. Place chips in a food dehydrator or oven of 150 degrees. Allow to dry overnight or until crisp. Store in an airtight container.
These tabs do not have the fat or sodium of potato chips but they still have the Crunch! In addition, many children enjoy the slight sweetness.

Sweet Potatoes
· ½ kilo of sweet potatoes, potatoes, peeled and cut in
· 1 tablespoon grated parmesan cheese
· 1 teaspoons of olive oil
· 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
· ¼ teaspoon of paprika
· 1/8 teaspoon of cayenne pepper, optional (skip if their children don't like spicy foods)
· Salt and pepper to taste

Preheat oven to 450 degrees. In a bowl, stir the sweet potatoes, cheese, oil and spices to coat. Put the potatoes in a baking tray sprayed with nonstick cooking spray. Bake for 8 minutes. Flip and bake for 10 minutes more until potatoes are tender and begin to brown. Serve with tomato sauce if desired.
   Time-saving tip: Some supermarkets carry sweet potatoes, already cut french fries. You can find near the lettuce and salad mixes.


Sweet potato and pineapple bread of spoon

Serves 8 -10
· 3 medium sweet potatoes
· 1 (15-ounce) can crush pineapple, drain
· 2 (8 1/2 ounce) boxes Jiffy Corn Muffin Mix
· 1 (8 ounces) container sour cream
· 1 cup milk
· 3 eggs
· 2 tablespoons molasses or dark corn syrup
· 1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla
· 1 1/2 teaspoons ground cinnamon (or freshly grated)
· 1 1/2 teaspoons ground nutmeg (or freshly grated)
· ginger powder (1 teaspoon freshly grated) or
· 1/2 cup brown sugar
· 1 tbsp. butter
· The steam hot water
1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.
2. Bring a pot or pan of water to boil.
3. Bake sweet potato in the skin until the fork offer about 40 minutes and cool to the touch.
4. Remove the skin and place the sweet potatoes in a large bowl mash until softened.
5. Add drained pineapple, stir together.
6. Add the vanilla, cinnamon, nutmeg, molasses, and ginger for the bowl and mix.
7. I liked at this point to determine the amount of sugar to add, usually no more than 1/2 of a cup and stir.

2. Add the grated onion, beaten eggs, flour, baking powder, salt, and pepper. Mix well.
3. Heat 2 to 3 tablespoons in a nonstick skillet over medium heat. Place a small amount of mass in the oil. When this hot enough to sizzle, spoon in the batter, forming the pancakes the size of a dollar coin with a spatula. Keep the heat over medium-high heat, fry on both sides until crispy and golden brown evenly.
4. Drain the finished pancakes on paper towels (Do not pile) and keep them warm in the oven at 200 degrees F.
5. Serve hot with sour cream and/or applesauce.

 Recipe for honey roasted sweet potatoes

Serves 6
· 2 lbs sweet potatoes, peeled and cut into 1-inch pieces
· 2 tbsp. olive oil
· 2 tbsp. honey
· 1 teaspoon. fresh lemon juice
· 1/2 teaspoon. salt
1. Place potatoes in a 9x13-inch baking dish.
2. In a small bowl, whisk together the oil, honey and lemon juice.
3. Pour the mixture over potatoes and stir to cover.
4. Sprinkle with salt and bake at 350 degrees for about 1 hour or until potatoes are tender.

 Recipe for Sweet Potato Waffles

Serves 6
· 1 cup sweet potato cooked and mashed,
· 1 1/4 cups low-fat buttermilk
· 1 egg
· 1 tbsp. canola oil
· 2 cups low-fat baking mix
· 1/4 cup sugar
· 1/2 teaspoon. cinnamon
· confectioners' sugar (Optional)
1. Preheat the waffle iron according to the manufacturer's instructions.
2. In a medium bowl combine the sweet potatoes, milk whey, egg, and oil.
3. In a separate bowl, whisk the butter, sugar, and cinnamon.
4. Stir the mixture of sweet potato in the dry ingredients. The batter will be quite thick.
5. Coat nonstick waffle iron with cooking spray.
6. Spoon 1/2 to 3/4 cup of mixture in the waffle iron; close and cook until crisp.
7. Sprinkle with icing sugar if desired.

Maple SWEET POTATOES RECIPE

Serves 6 -8
· 2 1/2 pounds sweet potatoes
· 3/4 cup maple syrup
· 3 tbsp. butter
1. Cook potatoes in boiling water for about 15 minutes.
2. Drain, peel, cut and arrange in a baking pan with butter.
3. Add syrup and butter; bake at 350 F until tender and well glazed, about 45 minutes, stirring occasionally in the syrup.

Sweet Potato Pretzels Recipe

Serves 7
· 1 5/8 teaspoons dry yeast
· 1/2 cup warm water
· 1/2 teaspoon. salt
· 1 5/8 teaspoons sugar
· 1 cup of sweet potato mashed,
· 1/4 cup butter melted,
· 1 cup all-purpose flour
· 1 cup whole wheat flour
· 1 teaspoon. cinnamon
· 2 tbsp. coarse salt
1. Let the test of the leaven in the water with sugar and salt.
2. Add all other ingredients except the coarse salt, leave room for 1 hour.
3. Roll in sticks and place it on a cooling rack on a cookie sheet.
4. Washing Brush with egg white and sprinkle with coarse salt.
5. Bake at 350 degrees for 30 minutes or until golden brown.

Sweet Potato Pie Recipe for cookies

Serves 24
· 1 1/4 cups flour
· 1 teaspoon. ground nutmeg
· 1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
· 1 1/2 teaspoons baking soda
· 1/2 teaspoon. salt
· 1/2 cup butter
· 3/4 cup sugar substitute
· 1 egg
· 1 1/2 cups peeled and grated very fine sweet potatoes
· 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
1. In a bowl, sift together the flour, nutmeg, baking powder, baking soda, and salt, and set it aside.
2. Beat with an electric mixer, butter, and sugar.
3. Add the egg, vanilla extract, and sweet potato.
4. Fold the dry ingredients in the mixture of sugar and butter.
5. Drop spoonfuls of the dough on the baking sheet lined with parchment. Bake at 400 degrees for          12 to 15 minutes or until golden brown.
6. Transfer to a cooling rack.

Try replacing the whole wheat flour in this recipe to get more fiber and nutrients.
